Assistant Professor Ayurveda PSC exam preparation

Government Ayurveda college Assistant Professor posts are filled through State PSC selection processes that test advanced subject knowledge through written MCQ papers and, in some states, a viva or practical component. CEET Ayurveda provides subject-wise MCQ preparation and mock tests calibrated to the post-graduate teaching-post standard required for these selections.

Teaching-post exam calibration

Assistant Professor selection exams test depth of subject knowledge at the level expected of a faculty member, not a practitioner. Question sets are drawn from classical texts, post-graduate research, and current Ayurveda teaching methodology — a different balance from clinical exam papers.

Samhita and text-critical questions

AP Ayurveda papers include Samhita-quoted questions and text-critical reasoning across Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtangahridayam. CEET's Samhita module presents the highest-frequency sloka-referenced MCQs with source citations.

Department-specific preparation

Each of the 17 Ayurveda teaching departments has a separate MCQ set in CEET's bank — Kayachikitsa, Panchakarma, Shalya, Shalakya, Prasuti, Kaumarabhritya, Maulikasiddhantha, Rachana Sharira, and others — structured for AP exam depth.

Research methods and education MCQs

Several state PSC AP papers include questions on research methodology, Ayurveda education policy, and teaching and learning methods. CEET includes a dedicated 200-question module on this component, which most AP candidates overlook.

Mock papers at AP level difficulty

Full-length mock papers are set at the difficulty level observed in Kerala PSC and Karnataka PSC AP Ayurveda papers. Scores on AP mocks are not comparable to AMO mock scores — the papers are calibrated independently.

Part-time schedule for working faculty

Most AP candidates are already serving as lecturers or senior residents. CEET's AP batch runs on a three-sessions-per-week schedule with recorded sessions so preparation does not interrupt ongoing academic duties.

What the Assistant Professor Ayurveda Selection Exam Tests

State PSC Ayurveda Assistant Professor selection exams recruit teaching faculty for government Ayurveda colleges. The exam tests subject knowledge at the level expected of a person who will teach and evaluate BAMS and MD students in that subject. This is a different cognitive demand from clinical MO exams.

Eligibility requirements

Eligibility across most states is MD Ayurveda in the relevant specialisation, plus a minimum number of years of post-MD experience (typically two to three years) and, for some states, NET/SLET qualification or exemption under UGC norms. Maharashtra and Kerala have published specific requirements that differ from the UGC baseline; verify the current notification before applying. Candidates who hold NET Ayurveda qualification may be eligible for age relaxations in some states.

Written exam format

Written exams typically consist of 100-150 MCQs covering the subject-specific syllabus. Kerala PSC AP Ayurveda papers historically carry 60-70 subject-specific questions and 30-40 general GK and education-policy questions. Karnataka PSC AP papers lean more heavily on subject-specific content (80 or more). The GK and education component in Kerala PSC AP papers rewards candidates who have invested preparation time there; neglecting this section costs 20-25% of the total achievable mark.

Viva and practical component

Some states (including Kerala for certain AP notifications) conduct a viva voce or practical demonstration assessment for shortlisted candidates from the written exam. The viva tests the ability to explain a clinical topic or Samhita concept at a teaching standard, not merely to recall it. Candidates who prepare only for MCQ accuracy and have not practised verbal explanation of topics sometimes perform below expectation at this stage. CEET's AP batch includes guided verbal-practice sessions in the final four weeks of the module for states with a known viva component.
